- Episode 46: It's Been A While
Happy Spring, everyone! ☀️
Apologies for the six-month hiatus—life has been full and, at times, overwhelming.
Intern year of residency has been a whirlwind, testing my sleep, time, and overall sense of well-being. But it’s also been deeply meaningful. I had the privilege of delivering a dozen happy, healthy babies at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. I then spent a month at UC Davis Medical Center caring for some very sick children in pediatrics.
Amidst all that, I also faced the heartbreaking loss of my beloved grandmother to advanced-stage dementia. Thanks to the loving care of my aunt Irene, she passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family.
All of it—the highs and lows—hit me hard. But the earth kept turning, and slowly, the light found me again.
Karla and I made sure to honor the brighter days of spring by fulfilling a lifelong dream of ours: visiting Mt. Fuji during cherry blossom season!

Meanwhile, our work at Ehm Academy hasn’t skipped a beat. We continue to support our incredible students, and we are so proud. Shout-out to our high schooler (you know who you are!) who scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT! And major applause to those who’ve gone from scoring 40–50% on exams to consistently landing in the 90s—you’re all rockstars.
When life gets tough, I find inspiration in our patients and students—their resilience, their drive to grow, to heal, to be better than yesterday.
Going forward, I’ll be in touch monthly instead of weekly with updates, insights, and any new tools or resources I come across to enhance learning.
Most of our students take a short summer break, but by early July, they’re back at it—ready to stay ahead of peers who spent the whole summer in idle mode.
